How To Make A Guitar Sound Like A Bass In Logic Pro X – YouTube | Logic pro x, Logic pro, Guitar.

Most amp modelling plugins can load in impulse responses, but you can always use Space Designer in post-production to shape the sound even more. I usually set my HP filter around 40 Hz, but you might want to go up to 60 Hz if you want more of a vintage-funk bass tone.

If you go below 40 Hz, you may clutter up your mix so be careful. I want to create a darker sound for this track. Once you find it, widen your Q and boost until it sounds fuller. Use your ears and find a band of frequencies that adds muddiness to your bass tone and cut it. Depending on your bass guitar, you may actually want to boost here so use your best judgment.

You can now blend them as two channels using the channel volume controls. The main benefit of creating two tracks is that you now have more freedom to EQ the Amp and DI signals independently using regular insert plug-ins.

If you want to simulate recording multiple bass cabinets then create three Bass Amp Designer tracks, one with an 8×10 cab for mid-range and top end, one with a 1×15 cab for low end, and a separate track for the DI. The three tracks can then be equalised separately and summed through a Track Stack to give you control over the overall level and timbre.

Before the age of computers running powerful DAWs, the duty of synthesizing extra bottom end would have been handled by a dbx subharmonic synthesiser rack unit or by re-amping the bass through a thunderous speaker. Logic has its own equivalent processor: the SubBass plug-in. The SubBass plug-in takes the incoming audio and then splits it into two identical parallel processors labelled High and Low. Screen 2. The SubBass plug-in can be used to add bottom end to a bass guitar recording, here I am using just the top band to add bottom end around the 85Hz region.

For what we are trying to accomplish we only need one band of processing, though. Set the Frequency Mix slider all the way up to to give just the High band. Tune the bass enhancement processor to the frequency range you want to enhance. First of all, set the Ratio to 1, then set the bandwidth control to approximately half an octave. Next, go to the Centre control and sweep it from the lowest frequency upwards until you find the area you want to enhance. If the area is too wide simply reduce the Bandwidth control Screen 2 and Audio Example 1.

Now, add the dry signal back and adjust the amount of wet signal carefully. In conjunction, these articulation methods make up the typically aggressive and overtone-rich slap bass sound.

Because the basic sound of a slap bass is brighter than a standard fingered bass, you need to adjust some Material Pad settings. Return the Low Keyscale parameter to its initial value by Option-clicking the small green triangle found below the main Resolution slider.

Drag the ball down a little, and the sound becomes more wiry. From the models at your disposal, Strike is the most suitable for simulating a thumb physically striking the strings from above. This model is not, however, as appropriate for the slapped popped strings. It makes the most sense to choose the Pick model for this purpose. If you want a DAW which is easy to understand, complete with instruments, without hassles and affordable, Logic Pro X is a no brainer.

I think existing users should upgrade even if there are no upgrade pricing available. I still think Logic is simply awesome though! Logic Pro X is Finally Announced! Logic Pro X.
